My Devices

Every child can have more than one protected device.
Add device

To set up a new device, use a desktop computer.

Set up your first device

Use the ParentProof setup app on a Windows or Mac computer. Supported devices link to your family automatically.

Get the setup app

Paired devices

Who uses your devices

A profile is one person — a child, or you. You put a device on a profile from that device’s own screen.

Adding your family

Add a child

You can add more later. One profile per protected device.

Whatever you call them at home is fine.

Used once to suggest a starting app list. ParentProof does not ask for a birthday or save this choice.

What Archive and Delete do

Removing a profile deletes its settings with it and cannot be undone. A profile a tablet is using cannot be removed at all — put that tablet on another profile first, from the tablet’s own screen.

This tablet

Only you see this. Use whatever you say out loud — “Max’s tablet”, “the kitchen one”.

Tablet’s on

Who’s using it

A switch is not instant. This tablet checks in about every {sec} seconds and picks it up on its next check-in.

Pause and app-time details

Switching also resumes a pause made on the tablet and loses the last few minutes of app time that had not been counted yet.

What this tablet shows

Used only when no child profile is available for this device.

Ask the assistant

The assistant is unavailable in the current release. Use Apps, Websites and Schedules to make changes yourself.

Starter packs

A ready-made set of allowed apps, a bedtime, and a daily limit. Applying one only ADDS to what is below — it never removes or locks anything you already set.

Allowed apps

Allowed apps

This tablet has not told us what it can launch yet, so nothing here is checked against it.

If a newly installed app is missing, let the tablet check in and try the list again. ParentProof never asks you for an app’s technical identifier.

Always allowed

Always allowed

These stay open even while the tablet is resting — an alarm clock, or a way to call you.

If a newly installed app is missing, let the tablet check in and try the list again. ParentProof never asks you for an app’s technical identifier.

Daily limits

Choose an app from the list first.

On Windows a daily limit stops the program the next time it opens; nothing already running is closed. It is matched on the file name, not where it lives, so a rename or a copy starts a fresh budget — blocking one below is matched on the full path.

Categorize apps

Tag an app as educational or entertainment. This does not change what the tablet allows yet — it is groundwork for goals like “20 minutes of reading unlocks 20 minutes of YouTube.” You choose the category; nothing here judges an app automatically.

Schedules

Add schedule

Days

Choose every app that should stay available. If an app is missing, let the device check in and try again.

Protection on this tablet

All on by default. Turn one off only if it gets in your way.

Family-safe web lookups

Blocks many adult-site lookups in apps that use this tablet’s network settings. Browsers with their own secure DNS or VPN can bypass it.

Coverage and privacy

This service never sees what your child looks up and keeps none of it. The resolver you pick does see every name this tablet asks for — what it keeps is its policy, not ours.

The stronger control is the app list. What an allowed app opens inside itself is the app’s decision and not this tablet’s, so which apps can be opened at all is the one limit here that does not depend on how an app looks names up. This setting is not a device-wide filter — it only changes where names are looked up — so treat it as a speed bump rather than a wall.

The resolver you pick refuses to look up adult sites — and it does that by changing where the tablet looks names up, so it covers every app that uses the tablet’s own lookups, and only those. An app with its own resolver is not covered: Firefox has DNS-over-HTTPS on by default, Opera has a VPN built in, and a site opened by its raw IP address skips name lookup entirely. Needs Android 10 or newer.

This is not where you block one site. A website you can name goes on that child’s Websites list.

Make ParentProof the only browser

Off by default. Turning this on closes every other app on the tablet that can open a web page — including one installed later. ParentProof’s own browser is unaffected, and turning this off restores them.

Switch the camera off

Off by default. Turning this on disables the camera everywhere on the tablet, including inside allowed apps. Turn it off here to restore the camera.

The child’s web browser

Off by default. The browser appears only after you enable it and set at least one website or category rule.

Internet lock

Screen viewing

Screen viewing

Not available in the current release. ParentProof keeps screen capture and remote help off until parent verification, access history, automatic deletion and the parent on/off switch are complete. If it is ever switched on, your child is not told and cannot refuse.

Why this is off

Your child is not told when you look at their screen, and cannot refuse. Only you will know you looked.

Every request and every image you open is recorded in Household activity.

Unavailable in this release.

Find this tablet

Makes the tablet play a loud sound, on full volume, even if it is set to silent — the same "walk toward the noise" trick as a phone finder.

Give this tablet back

Turns off supervision on this tablet and hands it back to your child as a normal, unrestricted tablet — the same effect as using the in-app exit option or the USB unlock tool, just from here. Once the tablet confirms, it is also removed from your account.

Unlink this tablet

Safely removes restrictions first, then removes the tablet from this account.

The tablet stays linked until it confirms it is ready to pair again.

Only use this if the tablet is lost or cannot get online. ParentProof cannot confirm its restrictions were removed.

How app blocking works

Blocking makes an app disappear from your child’s home screen. It stays gone after they restart the device — it is not a nag they can tap past.

It does NOT delete the app or anything inside it. Saves, worlds, photos, chats and progress are untouched, and they all come back exactly as they were the moment you turn the block off.

It is not instant. The device checks in for its settings about every {sec} seconds, and a block lands the next time it does — so if the app is open right now, expect it to close within about that long rather than the moment you tap.

This list is what your child can see and open. Background programs — hundreds of them, on any computer — are not here: a list nobody can read is a list nobody uses.

Add an app

For an app that is not on the list above — including one nobody has installed yet. You choose it by name.

ParentProof never asks you for an app’s technical identifier — you always choose an app by name.

Websites

Saved website rules

Device delivery

A whole-site Block rule reaches a compatible Android tablet, Windows PC, or Mac when web filtering is on and verified on that device. Allow rules can affect online ParentProof service checks, but exact-address or page rules are different: no device receives or enforces them, because a name lookup cannot see a page.

Web filtering is configured separately on each tablet.

How rules and automatic filtering work together

A rule you write here is the last word — checked before the automatic filtering and before anything on the Categories screen. An Allow always wins, even over a blocked category.

A very small set of hosts — tied to child sexual abuse material, malware command-and-control, or credential phishing — cannot be allowed by anyone, including a parent. An Allow for one of those is refused, not silently dropped.

Saved rules

Allow, Ask a parent, and Block stay separate so each decision is easy to review.

Removing a rule is not the same as allowing the site. It takes your decision away and hands the site back to the automatic filtering, which usually blocks it again for the same reason it did before. To open a site deliberately, add it with Allow instead.

ParentTap asks

Picture and voice asks from your children arrive here for a quick answer.

Requests waiting

Your child asked you about a website that could not be checked automatically. Each one below is waiting for your answer.

Your answer is written down as a rule for that child, and from then on it is what decides that address when it is checked — instead of the automatic filtering, and without using up a check. You can change or remove it later on that child’s Websites screen. Answering here does not by itself change anything already open on the tablet.

“Allow scoped” allows the address for 24 hours only. After that it asks again — it never becomes a permanent rule the way “Allow” does.

Answered

Requests you answered during this visit. This list clears on reload — the answers themselves are already saved as rules, whether or not you see them listed here.

History

Website requests you or another parent have already answered, kept across visits and devices. Help requests have their own history below; ParentTap answers have their own history on the ParentTap screen.
